CONCACAF QUALIFICATION MATCHES |
QUALIFICATION PROCEDURE
The CONCACAF qualification games will start in February 2008 and finish in November 2009.
Th 35 participating countries are seeded on the basis of the FIFA May 2007 rankings
With the exception of St. Vincent & Grenadines who advance directly into the second round, the remaining countries ranked from 13 to 35 will be drawn to play 11 home and away ties with the winners progressing into round two
The remaining 24 countries will then be drawn to play 12 second round home and away ties with the 12 winners progressing into round three
These 12 countries will then be drawn into three groups of four with each group playing a round robin competition
The winners and runners up in each group will then form a single group of six countries in the fourth round and play a further round robin competition.
The first three countries in this final group will then go into the finals in South Africa with the fourth placed country playing the fifth placed South American (CONMEBOL) country for a place in the finals
The draw and match dates for the qualifiers will be made on November 25, 2007 in Durban.
