Berne - Stadium de Suisse Wankdorf
The Wankdorf was the venue for the 1954 World Cup Final between West Germany and Hungary and is the home of BSC Young Boys. After being the venue for many International matches, cup finals and league matches for the Young Boys, the stadium was knocked down on 3 August 2001.
In its place a 30,000 seater multifunctional football stadium is now being built with the opening planned for Summer 2005. Upon completition it will become the largest of the newly constructed modern stadia in the country. When completed the complex will consist of a shopping centre, hotel, restaurants and a public school building.
