New Boys Storm To Success

The 1969-70 season was a very successful season for the one addition to the league Chadwell Heath, as not only did they win the Senior Division Cup, but also added the Reserve Division and Reserve Division Cup to their trophy haul.

The Senior Division was not decided until the last match of the season when Chadwell Heath ended up with an identical league record to Billericay Town, but lost out on the title as they had a poorer goal average.

The Reserve Division also went down to the last match, with Manor Athletic finishing the season just one point behind Chadwell Heath.

Following the tradition of other clubs, at the start of the season Dorstel Press changed their name to A.E.I. (Harlow).

Manor Athletic finished as runners-up for the second season running in the Senior Division Cup losing out this time to Chadwell Heath. In the Reserve Division Cup a period of extra time was required before Chadwell Heath were able to defeat Collier Row.

During the season the representative side played only one match against the Essex & Suffolk Border League, and improved on the previous seasons defeat with a 1 - 1 draw.

Tailpiece

Champions Billericay Town let in a total of only 15 goals in 34 matches, while themselves averaging over three goals per game. It was this amazing goal average that won them the Senior Division title.
