Double County Success

This season saw our teams once again completed the Essex County Cup double when Frenford senior won the Essex Premier Cup, beating Runwell Hospital, and Kelvedon Hatch won the Essex Junior Cup. Newham United finished runners-up in the London Intermediate Cup.

The Premier Division was won by Kelvedon Hatch by a goal difference margin of just two goals although both sides were awarded points when opponents failed to fulfil fixtures in May.

Hutton took Senior Division One by four points from Hannakins Farm so both teams will be playing Premier Division football for the first time next season.

Wadham Lodge took Senior Division Two and are promoted for the second season running and will be joined by Herongate Athletic.

Springfield won their last match of the season to overtake Castle United and take Senior Division Three.

In the Reserve Division One positions were swapped from last season as Harold Wood Athletic took the title and Kelvedon hatch finished second.

Mountnessing won their penultimate match at Hutton to take the Reserve Two title although both sides are promoted.

Debden Sports won Reserve Division Two with Castle United making it a double promotion by finishing as runners up.

Runwell Hospital also appeared in our Senior Cup final but once again finished as runners-up losing out to Rayleigh Town.

Harold Wood Athletic completed the Reserve double when they added the Reserve Division Cup to their League title.

The most exciting cup final was in the Denny King Memorial when Castle United beat M & B Club 4 – 3 after extra time.

Six clubs left us at the end of the season with five joining the newly formed Essex Senior League Reserve Division. Four new clubs have joined us so our Senior section will consist of just 50 teams.

The weather once again had a an effect on our fixture list with over 270 matches being lost due to snow or rain.

As if to prove how important goal difference can be, Kelvedon Hatch not only won the Premier Division by a goal difference of just two goals, but also came second in Reserve Division One with a goal difference of just won over third placed Rayleigh Town
